FAQ

What is kombucha?

Kombucha is an age-old probiotic functional beverage originating in China/ Mongolia. It is made by fermenting sweet tea using particular strains of yeast and bacteria which produces a tangy fizzy drink. We make it in its original form, and infused with various flavours.

  • Why kombucha?
  • Probiotic goodness
  • Good source of Vitamin C and other antioxidants
  • Rich in beneficial organic acids like acetic acid, glucuronic acid, and gluconic acid
  • Restores gut flora and improves digestive health
  • Boosts immunity
  • Helps detox your body

What is sourdough bread?

Sourdough bread is the original traditional form of bread. It is fermented and leavened using a culture of wild yeast.  It breaks down the dough into readily digestible nutrients and imparts it a delicious characteristic taste with a hint of sourness.

  • Why sourdough bread?
  • No sugar at all!
  • Good source of iron and selenium
  • Easier to digest due to pre-biotic content.
  • All grains has an antinutrient called phytic acid. It binds to minerals and limits our body’s ability to absorb them. Fermentation by lactic acid – bacteria in sourdough breaks down the phytic acid significantly making the other minerals available to us.

Is sourdough bread gluten-free?

No, sourdough bread is not gluten-free. But it has shown to be easier on the digestive system for those with a gluten intolerance. The long fermentation process involved in making sourdough improves digestion of gluten-forming proteins, known for causing wheat intolerances and allergies.

We heard you say ‘NO’ to plastic?

Honestly, most of the time. But not always. We do our bit to operate our business responsibly and make our processes as less polluting as we can. This has been one of the most challanging aspects of our business and we are still far from where we wish to be. We’ll share some of the things we have been doing:

  • In our restaurant,
    • we don’t sell single-use water bottle
    • we use steel straws
    • we use plant-based takeaway containers
    • we use compostable plastic and paper bags
    • we carry our own canvas bags for shopping supplies
    • we make our own cleaning liquid and dish-wash soaps from all-natural ingredients!
  • We use paper and compostable plastic bags for our orders
  • We use glass bottles for our liquid products. Safest for food, and reusable.
  • We buy back all our bottles!
